The dark figures closed in around her, and panic seized in her belly. She tried to cry out for help, she knew Arthur had to be close, but no sound would come. She was alone, and a cold hand closed around her arm, vice-like -

She woke with a frightened cry.

Arthur shot up in bed before looking over at her. "Ariadne?"

She looked fearfully around the room. "Check the door. I thought I heard..."

He looked at her confused. Arthur hadn't heard anything, but he sighed and got out of bed so he could go and open the door. Nothing. He walked out and checked the living room and kitchen.

She checked the bedroom window, still feeling jumpy. "I - I'm sorry, it... It must've been the dream."

"You have a totem," he pointed out when he got into bed again.

"I thought I heard something," she said, taking a shaky breath. "I'm sorry..."

[isnt_the_same]

"Just sleep, Ariadne." He leaned over and kissed her head before laying down and pulling the covers up.

"You promise there's no one?"

[isnt_the_same]

"Promise," he replied sleepily, his eyes already closed.

She watched him, biting her lip in worry for a few moments. Eventually, she relaxed and dozed off again.

Arthur didn't wake up until light started streaming in between the blinds.

"Mmf," Ariadne mumbled against his chest. "Arthur..."

He leaned down and kissed her hair.

"Hey," she murmured, giving him a sleepy smile. "No more bad dreams."

[isnt_the_same]

"Good." He smoothed her hair back with his fingers.

She pressed her lips to his, even though she knew she'd have morning breath.

[isnt_the_same]

He could smell it but he didn't say anything as he kissed her back.

[chesstotem]

She leaned down and nuzzled his neck. "Sorry about freaking out."

[isnt_the_same]

"It's alright. Though, I would like something in return." He rested his palm against her neck.

"What's that?" she asked, glancing up at him.

[isnt_the_same]

He kissed her lips before trailing down to her neck and whispering, "Can I?"

She hummed quietly and nodded, brushing her hair out of the way.

[isnt_the_same]

Arthur's fangs extended and then he bit into her.

[chesstotem]

Ariadne sucked in a breath, pressing closer as the familiar mix of pain and pleasure seeped through her body, intensified by her still-sleepy state.

He didn't take much so after a few minutes, he licked at the wound then sat up. "I'm going to take a shower."
