Moving Day (for dontthinkabout)

Ariadne knew that the day all their new furniture got delivered to the condo would be busy - she'd done her best to time all the delivery arrivals so that there wouldn't be too much of a clusterfuck, but inevitably there were about three trucks parked on the street at any given time.

And she had a lot of burly delivery men to direct.

"Master bedroom, please," she said firmly to one group, then turned to another couple of guys, who were hauling her drafting table. "Careful with that, please take it to the breakfast nook, that space to the back of the kitchen with all the windows. Thanks..."

He nodded, making a mental note of all that. “So that’s…eight people in total.” He decidedly left out his mother.

"Eight," she agreed, without further comment.

"So, are you gonna start spending all your free time in the garage, tinkering with that car?"

“I’m going to do some research first before I touch it. See how to go about fixing it up. I think I’ll need to bring in some experts to look at it as well, see what they think,” he replied and he cut a piece of his steak off.

"I love it when you talk about research," she joked good-naturedly at him. "This steak is delicious, by the way."

"Then you'll love when I start talking about intake and exhaust," he said in jest. "Thank you. I'm planning on buying a grill, though, now that we have space for one."

"So you're going to work on the car and grill out in your free time," she teased. "Will you wear one of those 'kiss the cook' aprons?"

When she put it that way, it sounded so...domestic. "You know you're the only one that gets to do so."

"Then maybe I'll get you one that says 'property of Ariadne'."

Arthur let out a hearty laugh at that. "Now that I would proudly wear."

She covered her mouth to stifle her laughter. "I'm totally going to do that now, just to see you wear it."

"You'd just love it, wouldn't you?" He asked, amused, as he touched her ankle with his foot under the table.

"Yes," she said with a giggle. "You know how I like staking my claim."

“You like to remind me almost every night in bed.”

"Nuh-uh," she protested, sipping at her wine. "You're the one who seduces me."

“I do not. You’re the one who likes to make sure that I know who I belong to.”

"Sure, mister 'let's buy you some more lingerie so I can take it off you with my teeth, and order you into position'."

“Are you complaining?” he asked, brow raised. “Because if you are, I don’t have to take off your lingerie with my teeth and order you into position.”

She was the one nudging his ankle now. "Do you think I'd go along with anything I didn't like?"

“No. I suppose you wouldn’t. Besides you like my assertiveness in the bedroom.”

Yes. I do," she said primly, finishing off her steak. "Would you pour me another glass of wine, please?"

“Of course.” He took the bottle off the table and neatly poured more wine into her glass before refilling his as well.

"There's still so much to do," she murmured, glancing around until her eyes fell on the breakfast nook where her drafting table stood. She smiled fondly, sipping her wine with the air of a satisfied cat.

“Luckily, we have all the time in the world,” he said as he finished up the last of his steak.

Her little smile turned into a grin as she looked at him. "I'm not worried. Excited."

“Me too.” He returned her grin before taking a long sip of his wine. “So are we going to properly christen our bedroom tonight?”
