Moving Day (for [livejournal.com profile] dontthinkabout)

Ariadne knew that the day all their new furniture got delivered to the condo would be busy - she'd done her best to time all the delivery arrivals so that there wouldn't be too much of a clusterfuck, but inevitably there were about three trucks parked on the street at any given time.

And she had a lot of burly delivery men to direct.

"Master bedroom, please," she said firmly to one group, then turned to another couple of guys, who were hauling her drafting table. "Careful with that, please take it to the breakfast nook, that space to the back of the kitchen with all the windows. Thanks..."

He smiled at her. “I hope our children grow up to be just like you.”

“That’s ridiculous. If they grow up to be just like you, they’d be amazing.”

“Well, in that case, I was extremely introverted when I was a child.”

“Compliant, but still a little headstrong.”

“Your hair and eyes and my smile?”

“Your eyes are better. They’re lighter than mine. But why my ears? They stick out a little.”

He laughed softly. “So how many children are we aiming for, hm? Girl Boy? Both?”

“I think I can handle two kids,” he mused. “More than that, I’m not too sure.”

“I can believe it.” He turned onto his side and draped his arm over her waist. “So are we going to be working parents?”

“Unfortunately, I can’t do a lot of my work from home,” he said quietly. “And I don’t want to…I love my job.”

“But we won’t be normal working parents,” he pointed out.

He sighed after the kiss, touching his forehead to hers. “And what are we going to tell our children? That I’m on a business trip?”

“I suppose. But you know it’s more than just a business trip.”
