Moving Day (for dontthinkabout)

Ariadne knew that the day all their new furniture got delivered to the condo would be busy - she'd done her best to time all the delivery arrivals so that there wouldn't be too much of a clusterfuck, but inevitably there were about three trucks parked on the street at any given time.

And she had a lot of burly delivery men to direct.

"Master bedroom, please," she said firmly to one group, then turned to another couple of guys, who were hauling her drafting table. "Careful with that, please take it to the breakfast nook, that space to the back of the kitchen with all the windows. Thanks..."

“What about your art? Don’t you have a portfolio?”

"Of blueprints," she said with a laugh. "Don't worry, my work space will soon be plastered with them."

“And what about your art that you’ve done in your spare time?” It’s no secret that Ariadne was good at drawing, far better talented than he was.

"Just sketches I do sometimes. Nothing worth hanging up on a wall."

“I’ll be the judge of that.”

She chuckled a little. "If you want."

“Though, that nude you drew of me, that’s definitely not going on the wall.”

"No, it's not. That one's all mine. Just like the real thing."

“Have I told you how perfect you are?”

[chesstotem]

She shook her head. "I'm not."

“You are.” He sighed into her hair. “Perfect in every way. Even your stubbornness is perfect.”

"I just love you and I'm stubborn about it."

Arthur laughed and ran his hand down her spine. “So who are we inviting to this housewarming?”

"The Cobbs, I guess." She shrugged. "Eames?"

“Eames?” He raised his brow at that.

[chesstotem]

"Yes. Is that okay?" She raised her eyebrows in response to him.

“I suppose. I haven’t spoken with him since the Fischer job.” They didn’t exactly run in the same circles and Arthur hadn’t needed a forger for a job, yet.

"I have," she said simply.

“You have?” This surprised him.

[chesstotem]

"A few times," she said, without any guile. "I think he likes me, in a... protective big brother kinda way..."

“Huh.” And then he added, “When was the last time you spoke to him?” Arthur wasn’t going to ask what they talked about. He didn’t think it was his place.

"Couple weeks ago," she replied. "I asked him if he wanted to come to the wedding, but he said no thanks. Probably because of my family." She smiled a little. "You know it's not that I was keeping it secret from you, right? It's just. I know you don't like him much. If you'd ever asked, I would've told you."

“No, I know,” he said immediately, reassuring her. “But, uh, if you wanted to invite him to the housewarming, by all means go ahead.” It was true, he didn’t like the forger much, but if Ariadne wanted to invite then so be it.

"Thanks," she said, smiling and kissing his nose. "You're so amazing."
