Moving Day (for dontthinkabout)

Ariadne knew that the day all their new furniture got delivered to the condo would be busy - she'd done her best to time all the delivery arrivals so that there wouldn't be too much of a clusterfuck, but inevitably there were about three trucks parked on the street at any given time.

And she had a lot of burly delivery men to direct.

"Master bedroom, please," she said firmly to one group, then turned to another couple of guys, who were hauling her drafting table. "Careful with that, please take it to the breakfast nook, that space to the back of the kitchen with all the windows. Thanks..."

"Really? And how did you picture your life before you met me?"

He shrugged. “Alone, working.”

"Until you died?" She looked skeptical.

“I didn’t think I’d ever get married before I met you. And relationships are complicated.”

"Not ours," she said right away.

“You have to admit, it’s a little complicated.” Whether he’s taking about the business or his mother, he didn’t say.

She ran a hand down his chest. "Sometimes, other things make it complicated. But this - what we have - that's not complicated at all."

“With our children and doing what we love.”

"Yes. See, I have bewitched you. You've gone from planning on a life alone, to getting married and planning a family. In one year."

“Has it been a year already?” He grinned at her.

"Mm-hm." She kissed the tip of his nose. "Want to go shopping with me tomorrow? I was going to look at some art, for the walls."

“Sure, I’d love to. Do you know what kind of art you’re looking for?”

[chesstotem]

"Modern," she said right away. "I'm not sure exactly, yet, but I like structure. Maybe some building photography, too."

He nodded along. “I think that would go with our personal style.”

"Yes, I know how much you like modern art, Arthur," she teased.

“What? It isn’t as chaotic as contemporary or post-modern.”

"I know. More structure."

“What about your art? Don’t you have a portfolio?”

[chesstotem]

"Of blueprints," she said with a laugh. "Don't worry, my work space will soon be plastered with them."

“And what about your art that you’ve done in your spare time?” It’s no secret that Ariadne was good at drawing, far better talented than he was.

"Just sketches I do sometimes. Nothing worth hanging up on a wall."
