“So I was thinking we’d catch a movie first, or if you're hungry, we can have dinner,” he said as he drove into town. He’d decided on dinner and a movie, but it was up to her to pick which one they would go to first.

"Movie first," she said with a nod. "I promise not to ruin my appetite with popcorn."

Actually, popcorn hadn't been appealing to her lately. Chocolate covered raisins, on the other hand...

“Alright.”

Arthur parked on the street close to the movie theater and got so he could go around and open Ariadne’s door. He took her hand and helped her out of the car. “So what movie did you want to see?”

"The chick flick," she said, deadpan. Then she smirked and took his hand. "I want to see the one with the dragons."

“The dragons, alright,” he huffed out a laugh and got in line for tickets.

"Unless there's something else you'd rather see," she said mildly.

“Not really, no.” When it was their turn, Arthur asked for two tickets for the dragon movie. After receiving them, Arthur walked into the lobby. “Popcorn? Soda? Candy?”

"Chocolate covered raisins," she said promptly. "Just a little box. The little one has a sweet tooth today."

He laughed again. “You’re blaming our unborn child for wanting candy?”

"Yep. I don't usually like chocolate covered raisins," she pointed out. "I'm going to get us seats. I don't want to miss the trailers." She kissed his cheek, then waddled to the ticket taker.

“Sure.” He watched her go before turning to the cashier when it was his turn.

After getting a small box of the chocolate covered raisins, Arthur walked to the theater where their movie was going to play.

Ariadne found them good seats, and happily munched on her raisins as the lights dimmed.

It wasn't a very good movie, but she'd known it wouldn't be. She liked it anyway. The dragons were pretty to look at, and so was the leading man.

After the film (and mostly during it), Arthur wished he had seen a different movie, but Ariadne looked entertained enough.

When the credits rolled, she let Arthur help her up and out of the theater. "That was so crappy," she said happily. "And so fun. And when the guy got his shirt ripped off, yummy."

He narrowed his eyes slightly at her as he led her out of the theater. “We should’ve watched something else.”

"Don't tell me you're going to get jealous of a movie star," she said, leaning up to kiss his cheek. "Next time, you can pick the movie, okay? And you can ogle the sexy actresses all you want."

“We should’ve watched something with more substance,” he said. “Dragons? Really?”

"I didn't want anything of substance," she retorted. "I'm sorry you didn't enjoy yourself. Don't be huffy about it, though. It was just a movie, and we're supposed to be on a date, remember?"

“I’m not being huffy,” he told her.

She smiled and kissed his cheek again as they got back to the street. "You are. C'mon, are you going to take me to dinner?"

He sighed. “Yeah.” Arthur led her down the sidewalk to the restaurant on the corner of the block they were on. It wasn’t exactly casual, but it wasn’t the fancy sort either. “Holmes, table for two,” he said to the hostess. She looked through the reservations before finding the name and leading them to a table.

She took his arm affectionately. "Arthur. You're looking grumpy on our date."

“I’m fine.” He took her hand and kissed her palm after he pulled out her chair for her. He sat in the opposite one and took the menu from the hostess before she walked away.

She nudged his leg under the table with her foot. "I'm sorry. I promise not to ogle the shirtless actor ever again."

He smiled at her. “Thank you. That’s all I ask.”
