Their flight landed in Honolulu in mid-afternoon, so by the time they got their bags, hailed a cab and got to their hotel to check in, it was practically time for dinner. Fortunately, their hotel had a nice restaurant right off the lobby. Ariadne spent the meal watching Arthur closely, hoping he was feeling a little more relaxed. Ever since that projection had managed to shoot her in that dream, he'd been plagued with nightmares and had been really tense.

This trip had been his idea, and Ariadne hoped it would help. "We can go to the beach right away tomorrow, if you want," she suggested.

“Yeah,” he said as he looked away from the ocean through the window and back to Ariadne. He seemed distracted a little bit, but smiled anyways. A flight from Paris to Hawaii was no easy feat and Arthur was beyond exhausted.

"After we've rested," she said, returning his smile. "I bought a new bikini to wear, I hope you'll like it."

“I’m sure I will.” He grinned wider. Ariadne in a bikini was something that Arthur was going to like no matter what.

"Good." She sipped her wine. "I'm glad to see you smiling."

He shrugged. “It’s hard not to when I’m with you.”

"At least when we're in Hawaii?" she asked with a little smile.

“Yeah,” he replied, nudging her foot with his under the table.

"What was that for?" she asked, teasing.

"Nothing," he answered innocently enough.

"Playing footsie?"

“Maybe,” he said. He nudged her foot again.

She returned the nudge, letting her foot slide up his leg just a bit. "You're a terrible tease."

He raised his brow. “What about you?”

"You started it!" She laughed a little.

“So? You tease me like all the time,” he pointed out.

She shrugged. "It's not teasing when you intend to follow through."

“Oh, well then. That’s an entirely different story.”

"Oh yeah?" She tucked her feet up under her chair.

“Yup.” He smiled again before going back to his food.

"I don't know what you mean by that," she said with a nervous laugh.

"You'll have to find out and see, then."

She ducked her head, thinking about the lingerie she'd bought as a surprise, wondering if she should wear it for him tonight or not.

Arthur went back to his food with a small smile on his face.

The rest of dinner was relatively quiet, but it was a comfortable feeling, one that put Ariadne at ease and made her decide to go ahead and try out the lingerie tonight. Unless Arthur was really just too tired.

"Dessert? Or do you want to go right up to sleep?" she asked as the waiter took their plates away. There was possibly a double-meaning in her question.

Arthur stifled a yawn as he covered his mouth with his fist before answering, “Sleep.”
