The only good thing about being in Paris, and away from Arthur for a while, was the easy ability Ariadne had to report back to her bosses with what information she had so far.

It was also a bit of a relief to know that they didn't really have any intention of prosecuting Arthur, or anyone else from the Fischer job - at this point, her bosses were sniffing out something much bigger, and just wanted her to use them to get closer to whatever the bigger operation was, to figure out who was behind it.

She suspected it was something much worse than anything Arthur would be willing to do.

Still, aside from the regular calls to her bosses, it was exactly as boring and depressing as she'd known it would be, having to pretend to be a student again, attend classes without even the hope of Arthur on the phone in the evenings. She walked to the college most days, went to a couple of classes, walked back to her messy little apartment in the late afternoon or evening. Ate takeout for dinner, because she could barely cook for herself. At night, she would touch herself, remembering how Arthur felt on top of her, inside her.

The next day, she did it all again.

She smiled a little, panting as she rode him harder. Shifting her hips slightly, she groaned when he hit a perfect spot inside her, and arched her back.

She nodded, biting her lip. She came suddenly, rocking against him almost frantically as she gasped with it.

Arthur grunted as she tightened around him. "Off," he hissed.

She blinked at him, dazed from her orgasm, but managed to scramble off him nonetheless. "What -"

Arthur got onto top and pushed into her with a grunt.

After two orgasms, she was pliant underneath him, her legs slipping around his middle in encouragement.

It didn't take long until Arthur came with a grunt as his hips stuttered until he stilled, trying to catch his breath above her.

Ariadne hummed a little, tracing his jaw affectionately and keeping him close for the moment.

He let out a breath. "I'm tired," he said with a laugh.

"You just slept for like ten hours," she said with a surprised laugh of her own.

"Still jetlagged, though," he said before shifting off of her.

"Are you hungry, or anything?" she asked, propping her head on her elbow to watch him. "The bathroom's directly across the hall."

"I could eat," he said before getting up and going to the bathroom.

"What do you like? French toast? Eggs?" She stretched a little and, instead of putting on her own clothes, grabbed Arthur's discarded shirt, buttoning it up. It dropped down to her thighs, and she padded into the tiny kitchen like that.

"French toast sounds good," he called out. Arthur left the bathroom and went back into the bedroom to pull on his boxers. He walked into the kitchen next.

"You can put some coffee on, if you want," she murmured nonchalantly, already mixing eggs and milk and cinnamon together for the batter.

Arthur nodded and went to start the coffee maker before leaning back against to counter to watch her.

She was aware of his eyes on her, but she focused on the task at hand. She had some nice, crusty french bread in the bread box, which she used, along with more cinnamon.

"Do you have any leads on new jobs, yet?" she asked conversationally.

"A couple," he replied. "Not sure if I want to take them, though." Arthur shrugged.

"Don't you think that's something we should be deciding together? Partners, and all that?" she asked, flipping the slices of bread in the pan.

[isnt_the_same]

"I suppose, but you're still new to the business," he explained. "I'll tell you about them later."

[chesstotem]

"I am new. But I won't get better, or learn anything, if you don't share with me," she pointed out firmly.

As she turned back to the french toast, she realized with a sudden start that for a while there, she'd totally forgotten her real purpose here; she'd actually become Ariadne; burgeoning dream criminal.

She didn't know how she felt about that.
