He clutched the bonnet in his hand. “You can take a nap mom, before dinner if you’d like.”

“Sure, that’d be nice. Flying always makes me tired.”

He nodded and took Ariadne’s free hand, leading her out of the room and closing the door behind him.

Ariadne continued sniffling into her tea as she perched on a bar stool in the kitchen. "I'm still wondering if it's too good to be true..."

He shrugged and went to pour his own cup.

She tilted her head at him. "Is there something wrong? You've been so quiet."

“I’d rather not make any judgments until the weekend’s over,” he said honestly.

She reached out and gave his hand a squeeze. "Of course. Hey - I love you."

He smiled slowly. “Love you, too.”

"You know what?" she said coyly. "I've gained two pounds already. Get ready for your wife to be a whale."

“The most beautiful whale ever,” he joked.

"Or the most beautiful wife ever," she said, making a face at him.

Just then, the front door opened - her parents were back. "Hope you don't mind grilled, BBQ chicken!" Grant said happily as they brought everything into the kitchen to unpack it.

"Sounds great," Ariadne said with a smile. "We picked up Arthur's mom; she's upstairs now resting. You'll see her at dinner. And Arthur was just picking on me for being fat, weren't you?" she teased.

“I have no idea what you’re talking about,” he said with a smile before going around and helping unpack the groceries.

"He called me a whale, because I've gained two pounds," Ariadne joked, and her mother and Grant both laughed.

"I'm sure he said no such thing," Elizabeth said.

Grant, ever more astute, winked a little. "I bet he did, but made it into a compliment."

“Well, I did say she’ll be the most beautiful whale ever," he said, coming clean.

"He's a naughty man. Maybe he should sleep on the couch," Elizabeth joked.

Ariadne pretended to think about that for a moment. "Nah. I like him nearby, in case I need more tea for my upset tummy."

“I knew I’d turn into a butler,” he joked.

"Don't be ridiculous," Ariadne said with a snort. "You've always been the butler."

Grant laughed heartily. "It's buried in that fine print, when you sign the marriage license. Right after the bit that says they can put you on the sofa for any minor infringement." Elizabeth gave her husband a good-natured smack.

Arthur laughed heartily. “I must’ve missed it that part.”

"You were too busy being in love," Ariadne suggested, then gave him a kiss on the cheek.

"Go on, get out of here," Grant said, shooing them out of the kitchen. "I'll call you when it's time to eat. Lizzie, can you start chopping the onion for me?"

Ariadne smiled, taking her tea and her husband to the living room to cuddle on the couch.

He more than willingly followed her into the living room and sat down on the couch, gently tugging her onto his lap.

"Hi honey," Ariadne murmured with a little smile, turning to give him a kiss. Since her parents had been there, they hadn't had much alone time.

“Hi.” He returned the kiss before sipping his tea again.

"You'll tell me if you're concerned about anything, right?" she asked, running her fingers along his arm affectionately.

“Of course,” he replied.

She leaned in to nuzzle at his neck, and nipped gently at his earlobe. "Can I have a back rub tonight?" she asked, a coy little smile on her lips.

“Sure,” he answered with an innocent enough smile.
