Ariadne had been watching for him, of course. She wasn't a bit surprised when he was late, not after meeting the two little balls of energy that were his kids the other day - she knew they would put up a hearty fight.

So when she spotted him, Ariadne dropped what she was doing (just a boring conversation with a couple of classmates about Roman aqueducts) and crossed the room to greet him.

"You didn't have to get me a gift, you know," she said with a grin.
